I just downloaded the new mozilla browser for mac and all the tabs i open are private browsing.

You can check that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).

Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
remove checkmark: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"

See also the about:policies page via the location/address bar to check whether policies are active.
