Hi CMcLernon, how did you download a file? When I look at that site briefly, I don't see any download links.

What kind of file did you download? Often a video will have an extension similar to .mp4 and can be opened with a number of different programs. However, there is a really wide range of possibilities when it comes to media files, so if it's something unusual, it could be trickier.

There's no download links: you just play a video on IView. You then get a list of download options on Download Helper. You select one. Then you get an option to download the file using either Download Helper or the Firefox browser.

The downloaded file is in MP4 format - but it won't play.

Oh, okay, I don't know how Download Helper works in this case. In general, it could capture the video as it streams to Firefox, or reassembles little video parts, or send the video to a converter.

What kind of error message do you get for the file from your video player?

Can you check with Download Helper support to see whether it is a known issue with that site?

I found a different downloader which gave me a playable file, so I'm OK now.
