Yahoo mail is my home page and I checked the keep me logged in box but I have to reenter my password to log in again every time I start Firefox. I don't have the problem with Internet Explorer. I have the same problem on my desk top PC and my Laptop. Both are on Windows 10. I've removed My AV program, Malwarebytes, but still have the problem when only running Windows Defender. I've gone down the list of suggestions such as clearing cookies and history. I have the same problem with the few other websites that I want to stay signed in.

Hi Dick,

  • Look to see if your saved passwords are there.
  • Options > Privacy & Security> Saved Logins
  • Look under Yahoo
  • Remove login information
  • Enter login information on Yahoo site.
  • Save the information when prompted
  • After you are connected to Yahoo close Firefox and reopen. You should now be logged in.

Repeat for the other websites.

Report back if this works or you are still having issues.

Thanks for your reply. I did what you said and it didn't help. The problem isn't that Firefox isn't storing my password, it's that Yahoo isn't keeping me signed in when I'm using the Firefox browser. Because of this Yahoo is the only site that I use Firefox to store the password. Then I have to click sign on twice to get the password from Firefox and sign in. I always stayed signed in before the Firefox update and I stay signed in when I use Internet Explorer. I have the same problem on one other site which I don't use very often so it's not much of a problem slowing the sign in to Yahoo is a problem Dick

Delete your cache and cookies from Yahoo and any AOL stuff find + yackimoni..something like that....

Then try again.

I've already done that it didn't help. I also have the same problem when I only use the Firefox browser without switching browsers. I'm not switching accounts. As I said I went down the whole list in response to the previous question "Why do I have to sign in when "keep me signed in" is selected, nothing fixed it.

Make sure you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • remove checkmark: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"

A detail like a website remembering you (log you in automatically) is stored in a cookie.

You can use these steps to make a website recognize and remember you:

  • you can create an "Allow" exception to keep specific cookies, especially in case of secure websites and when cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Cached Web Content: "Clear Now": Exceptions

Let the cookies expire when Firefox is closed to make them session cookies instead of using "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the cookies.

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> "Use custom settings for history" -> Cookies: Keep until: "I close Firefox"

You can create an "Allow" exception to keep specific cookies.

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history.

  • do not clear the Cookies
  • do not clear the Site Preferences
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data
  • clearing "Cookies" will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an "Allow" exception you may want to keep
