My e-mail doesn't recognize my address folders

I monitor and forward information to several different groups. Previously, when I went to BCC and went to add address the folders showed only one entry which was not a member of that group. It shows the entire address book but will not show any of the addresses in the separate folders. This really creates a hardship for me because it takes too much time to go through the full address list. Can you help me?
