The upgrade done was successful and when I restart and open the browser the message appears you are not on the latest version

Firefox for desktop Looks like you’re using an older version of Firefox. Update to stay fast and safe. Take Control.

Hi Philipsam, I wonder if you have copy of Windows Vista that is not updated.

Assuming you have a genuine copy of Windows update it fully and then try again.

You may also have problems because of security related software interfering with the process. Try temporarily disabling,or even uninstalling the security software whilst trying to update Firefox.

Obviously any main Anti Virus software needs to be fully updated or it is next to useless. Paid for software will not update if payments are not made, but if you are a domestic user of a genuine Windows Vista note that Microsoft provide free AV software

If you have outdated optional software that came bundle with your main AV that may also be causing problems.

You appear to be on Fx43, the latest version is Fx45. Even if Firefox 43 had to be downloaded to a outdated System it should still be able to update it using

Menu {three bar icon) -> Help { (?) icon) -> About Firefox
