A likely cause is that you are first closing all Firefox windows and then close the Firefox application.

Some have reported that closing Firefox (Firefox > Quit) while the browser window is still open works for them.

This bug is still occurring.

I don't close "all windows" and then close Firefox but I still get this error message frequently although not always. I can't identify the situations in which it occurs nor do I want to waste more time doing so.

I'd like to point out that a bug is not a "user problem."

This bug was introduced in Firefox 20 and it persists in Firefox 20.0.1. I've used Firefox for many years and this error is new.

Most users will put up with annoying bugs for a period of time if they are otherwise satisfied with the product. But what drives users to seek out new software is when the "solution" is said to be the user's problem.

Please acknowledge the bug and fix it.

Thank you

I closed Firefox with a window open and it fixed the problem, but only a few times--it is happening again. even if I do as suggested. I want to stay with Firefox, but this is getting very annoying as it has been happening for the last 1-1/2 weeks. Also, to practice good computer habits, leaving windows open is not a good habit to acquire unless you sell RAM for a living.

Thank you... looking forward to a fix for this bug.

Hello rysueenter, just a temporary solution till the bug fixed, is to go to about:config find(or copied/paste from there) the browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash and double-click on it to make it FALSE.

Thank you

rysue: Did ideato's idea fix the problem for you? You could also try deleting the sessionstore.js file . And this is a known bug that should be fixed in a day or so with the next Firefox update. Good luck!

Do not forget to reset the browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash pref to false after updating to Firefox 21 to check if this error is still happening. Otherwise you will lose your tabs if a real crash occurs.
