Error code:sec_error_unknown_Issuer
Yesterday, several other files were bundled with a file I downloaded. I may have uninstalled or deleted something necessary to access my snet email account. Internet access (www. sites) is still mostly intact.

The verification email did arrive so I can post here, but when I close & reopen Thunderbird, I get the same error message
The message comes from Thunderbird trying to connect to a server using SSL. This can either be Thunderbird connecting to your e-mail server, or an enclosed image in one of your messages.
In any case it means that Thunderbird is unable to verify whether the certificate issued by the server is reliable.
- Does Thunderbird give you a clue which certificate it is referring to?
- Could it be that your firewall/virus scanner is trying to intercept your traffic, in order to scan it?
Quoting Ideato:
Check your firewall, because some firewalls monitor secure connections (https) and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.

otherwise see if this happen in a new profile (start Thunderbird with the -p parameter):
