How were you accessing the mbox files? With ImportExportTools?

Try this: copy the mbox file into the Mail/Local Folders subfolder of the profile folder when TB is closed, then restart TB and see if the messages appear under Local Folders. Help/Troubleshooting Information, click Open Folder to open the profile folder.
