A bookmark won't go away even when removed.

I removed a bookmark by clicking the star in the awesome bar, and it appeared to go away. Unfortunately, it's a phantom bookmark - it's still there, even with having been removed. It shows up as if it were still bookmarked, but without the star being lit.

How can I remove this bookmark that won't die?

Thanks!

Start Firefox. Press <Shift> + <Control> B. This will bring up the bookmarks folder. Find the bookmark you want and right click on it. There is a search bar top right.

No, that's not the problem, I know how to delete bookmarks. This one has already been deleted by me, but it won't actually disappear. As in, the star is unchecked, but it remains after a reboot and everything.

Clarification -- The bookmark has been removed from the bookmarks menu. However, when typing into the awesome/location bar, it comes back up.

Ahh, the address bar can display matches to bookmarks AND history.

It can sometimes be hard to remove an entry in the location bar drop-down list that you have typed (i.e. has a typed=1 entry in the places.sqlite file).

Use these steps to remove saved data from a drop-down list:

  1. highlight an entry in the drop-down list
  2. press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
