Upgrade to 4.0 made my browser extremely slow and sluggish unless I run in safe mode

I am not too sure what is got to do with? But even in safe mode if I open the Add-ons website from the tools menu it goes back to being extremely slow and just moving pages on a website/switching between tabs becomes a pain

In Firefox 4 Safe mode disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

Update the video display driver to the latest version.

Thanks disabling the hardware acceleration fixed it
