use master password is checked but I never used one, how do I get it to uncheck?

Master password box comes up when I try to log in everywhere, it is checked in tools but I never checked it or used it. How do I uncheck it without a password? It does allow me into sites by just closing out the box to enter a password, but I want to get rid of it!

See Reset your Primary Password if you've forgotten it and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Master_password If using the chrome url (chrome://pippki/content/resetpassword.xul) doesn't work then delete key3.db and signons.sqlite (Firefox 3.5) and all signons#.txt files (if any exist, Firefox 3.0 uses signons3.txt) in the Profile_Folder.

I have the same problem, only I DID assign a password, but it DOES NOT work. I enter it, click ok and nothing happens.\ 

I want to remove it so I uncheck the password box, enter the password, click ok and still nothing happens. Can someone PLEASE help me undo what I thought was supposed to be a good and protective measure?
