Hi, I opened Mozilla after coming home from work today and had a few weird things happen. First things first, I was welcomed with a "Thank you for installing AdBlock" page. Which wouldn't be all that odd if I didn't use Ublock Origin instead. I removed the extension, ready to move on, but then I noticed all my bookmarks in the toolbar were gone! The ones saved to other bookmarks are still there, but the ones on my toolbar are deleted and not hidden. While I was investigating that, I found that my history looks weird? It's a bunch of pages on Nexus Mods that I visited a month ago or so but haven't visited recently.

Only my three devices, PC, phone, and Steam deck are logged in, but I'm worried my account has been compromised. I've changed my password and am trying to get two-factor authentication up.

So, um, I was talking to my sister and turns out, she did it. Not on purpose, but turns out I was still logged into her laptop when I borrowed it a while ago. And she, not knowing that it was my Mozilla account logged in on her laptop, thinking it was her account, promptly deleted my bookmarks, downloaded AdBlock, and browsed the same or very similar Stardew Valley mods on Nexus. She only realized a bit after and didn't bother to tell me!!

So, kind of hacked but not really. Mostly an issue of me being stupid and not remembering to logout after borrowing her laptop. I'm so so sorry to waste your guys' time over such a silly thing, solved! ;-;

I managed to restore my bookmarks and get two-factor authentication up. As for my history, it's still messed up, but, oddly enough, only for today. Everything from the previous days looks accurate. I'm also running a full scan on my PC just to be safe. While the main issue is fixed, what others steps should I take from here? Should I change all my passwords that have been saved to the password manager just to safe? While I'm hoping it was just some odd bug, I'm still concerned my account and my passwords have been compromised.

You may have switched to an older profile.

You may have switched to an older profile. Check this:

I don't really understand how the profiles work, but the only other profile I was able to find was "default." When I opened it, it didn't contain any add-ons, history, or anything really. It looked like a fresh install of Mozilla prompting you to set stuff up. While it would make my bookmarks make sense, I'm not sure what caused the issue with the history. The history is from around a month ago but I've been using Mozilla since April. It still feels plausible that it's a profile issue, though. I'm just not really familiar with the technicalities to be completely sure if this was my exact issue.

It does sort of feel like it rolled back in time, but for different times for the taskbar and history. I think I may have installed and then uninstalled AdBlock when I first downloaded Mozilla? But it's been a few months so I really can't be too sure. I synced my Chrome account after I started using Mozilla if that helps at all. Anyway, it definitely sounds more like an issue with Mozilla. Thanks for the help, it's eased my hacking, computer virus worries.
