How to undo Gmail style of message display
One of the reasons I preferred reading my Gmail messages on Thunderbird is that it kept each message independent, while Gmail would link them together and hide the contents of the older messages. I have hated using the Gmail interface because I had problems find emails that I clearly remembered reading. Now, It appears that Thunderbird has adopted Gmail's horrible display method and now I can't find emails that I know that I received. I hope that there is a setting somewhere that allows me to undo this. I looked, but I could not find any.

It would appear that there has been some changes since this solution was posted. These instruction tell to start at the "appmenu" button and select "View", then select "Sort by", and then select "Unthreaded". Unfortunately, there is no "Sort by" in my menu for "View". However, I have the menu bar exposed, and if I click "View", there is a "Sort by" in that menu, and if I click it, there are "Threaded" and "Threaded" options. It was set for "Threaded" and when I clicked "Unthreaded", then the folders returned the email to the way that I wanted. Thank you for your help!
