Repeated Google login requests

I have one email address in regular use: xxxxxx@ntlworld.com. I have had two other email addresses in the past (both gmail.com), neither of which has been used for at least a couple of years. But for the last several weeks, I have been getting repeated popup pages from Thunderbird nearly full screen interrupting anything else I am doing asking me to sign into my Google account using one of the redundant addresses. If I ignore this and close the window, it pops up again a few seconds later. If I log in as requested, it is replaced by another page requesting permission for Mozilla Thunderbird to "Read, compose, send, and permanently delete all your email from Gmail". This I have denied as it seems an unwarranted intrusion. But the requests for login using the redundant address continue every few seconds. How can I prevent this, and allow the redundant email address to rest in peace? Or, how can I delete the redundant addresses permanently? I'm using Thunderbird 91.2.1

If you have a gmail account and it checks for mail at startup, you will be presented with the OAuth2 authentication window that asks to allow TB access to the account. This is normal, and if you enter the account password and complete the authentication, gmail will store a token in Saved Passwords (cookies must be accepted in TB Preferences), and you will not be prompted in the future.

If you don't wish to access the account in TB, remove the account from Account Actions in Account Settings.

It was the conditions of TB access to the gmail account that I objected to. How could anybody be happy with an outside organisation being allowed to "Read, compose, send, and permanently delete all your email from Gmail". In my view TB's only job is to convey messages from correspondents to me and from me to correspondents. If it wants to carry out any of the actions above, it should be with my explicit approval on each occasion. I have now deleted the gmail account and only use my xxxxx@ntlworld.com account. I don't recall ever having been asked for similar authorisation for that account. The repeated interruptions have now stopped, so thanks to sfhowes.

I have this problem but it is not the 2nd-account answer which applies. This is a "Beg-war" screen from Google One which just pops up when I access my TB email. Click X in upper right corner and it returns upon every refresh or when opening TB. This just came in when I rebooted my PC. How can I remove this?

I have this problem too, since I upgraded Thunderbird (I have 91.8.1 but the problem appeared in the previous upgrade). Thunderbird is keeping popping-up with these gmail account logging windows, one by one, for each of my gmail accounts (I have a dozen). These are browser-like windows, with an URL at the top (starting with account.google.com). They pop up one at a time, but when I close one, then another one immediately appears, for another of my gmail accounts.

I cannot send messages anymore until I close all these bothering windows (once I close all these windows, without logging-in, SMTP is finally working again). However once I have closed them all, they unfortunately pop-up again after a minute, and also each time I restart Thunderbird. It's extremely painful... Thunderbird becomes really difficult to use now with these pop-up windows. A nightmare...
