If I install version 78.2.2 I run into the following problem. If I click on Get Messages computer hangs and the following message at the left bottom of the screen: mjsalman@pathcom.com: Checking mail server capabilities... appears I un-installed this version and installed instead 60.4.0 now Get Messages no longer hangs and I am able to retrieve my e-mails My operating system is windows 10 Thank-you Mike

From the menu at the top right, go to Options. Scroll all the way to the bottom and click on Config Editor. Skip past the warning. Scroll down until you find security.tls.version.min (or paste security.tls.version.min to upper frame) Double click on it, and set the value to 1

Some users report that a workaround is by toggling the value of the option security.tls.version.min from 3 (or 2) to 1. Also, you might need to set security.tls.version.enable-deprecated = true, for sending mails to work. Would it help?

Probably your mail server still uses TLS 1.0 or TLS 1.1. They are old, vulnerable, and no longer supported.
