and your mail provider is?
Spectrum road runner
It is unfortunate they have used poorly configured mail servers for years now.
I suggest you read this little lot. I have spent far to much time on dealing with issues that arise from poorly configured software managed by people that charge for their product. If they wee also doing it for free I might be more understanding, but they are not.

For Spectrum/Charter/roadrunner try these settings:
incoming IMAP server: mobile.charter.net on port 993, SSL/TLS security, authentication = normal password, User Name = email address.
outgoing SMTP server: mobile.charter.net on port 587, SSL/TLS security, authentication = normal password, User Name = email address.

Thanks for the responses. Have not got things straightened out yet. Am not very computer savy so am reluctant to get involved with some settings changes. My problem started after a someone else logged on with the same password as our account. Got that straightened out after a lot of back and forth with Spectrum. I will see if I can get it corrected from their end because I think that's where it started. My e-mail is working fine so it isn't a major problem but it is irritating. I will post again if I get it corrected or not. Thanks again

If you are not going to make the simple change to fix the issue, that is your choice. But if you feel intimidated by something so simple, perhaps you should be paying someone to fix it for you.

I seem to have the same problem. Every time I log in on Thunderbird I get an error message "current operation on inbox failed" It ends with 'Command unrecognized."!My webmail is fine and My ISP said it was a Thunderbird issue.

I have posted a solution. I suggest you use it instead of posting these "metoo" comments that simply spam my inbox.
I had the same problem and found this fix:
The settings for TWC that worked in the past are:
mail.twc.com for both the incoming (IMAP port 143 or POP port 110) and outgoing (SMTP port 587) servers, with Connection security = None, authentication = password, transmitted insecurely and User Name = email address.
This is the same as recommended here. Note that they also offer a secure (SSL/TLS) IMAP connection on port 993 and SMTP on port 465.
AND THIS DID WORK FOR ME.... Darryl
