Hello all I reinstalled windows 10 and started from new. I installed Firefox again and I forgot the login email (as I have several emails) and the related password. I forgot to save firefox info before I reinstalled windows 10. How am I able to retrieve my Firefox login and password. I can provide all the emails that I may have used for registering in. Thanks.

Did you just re-install the system, or clear the disk drive of data? If just a re-install, Firefox should still be available.

If you cleared the drive, look and see if there is a folder called windows.old or something like that. This is where your old data might have been saved.

If the disk was cleared, all you can do is go to each of the websites you belong to and select Forgot Password on the log--in page.

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I want to retrieve the saved bookmarks that I had. I forgot to save them before I reinstalled windows 10. Is there a way to get that back by relying on the email that I have used. I have several emails and I forgot which one I used, so I can try to use each one to get access to Firefox account. Thanks,

Unless you have a backup somewhere . . . . . Were you using sync?

Isn't firefox like Google chrome, once a person signs in, the data is saved in the person's account, once a person does a reinstall for example and then logs in to the firefox account, it should display the bookmarks? Or Firefox does not save the bookmarks to a person's account. I am not that technical but I am thinking isn't it like gmail or yahoo mail, you the data in the account, once a person logs out, they can not see the messages, once a person logs in (even in other system) they can see the messages, So, I signed to Firefox using my email account, and I am sure I set a password for the Firefox browser account, shouldn't be easy to retrieve the bookmarks once I log in to my Firefox account? I forgot the password, this is what I what to know, is how can I reset the password for the Firefox account so I can access it. thanks,

Firefox only saves user information within the profile folder. If you are using sync, then the data is also shared with other members of the sync. While there are programs and services that save their data in the cloud, Firefox does not do this.

Hi, I am not technical, you did mention that in the above, but as I am not technical, I did not know how to do it. Thanks for your help again.

I'm not sure what video this is about.

Did you use the "C:\Windows.old" folder to recover this data?

Yes, I used the video to teach me how to obtain the information relating to the Firefox profile before the re-installation of Windows 10, once I did the re-install, I forgot to export my bookmarks, and using that method, I was able to retrieve my Firefox bookmarks. This method has other options too (complete profile information). If you go to windows.old folder you will find information that you may need.
