Hello vtrasikis,

Is it just Ctrl+n that doesn't work, or do keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl+t (to open a new tab), Ctrl+w (to close tab) etc. not work either ?

As a workaround (for now) :

To open your homepage in a new window, hold the Shift key and click the home button.

ctrl-t works, ctrl-p doesn't... what good is the shift -home?? it doesn't open a new window

Holding down Shift and then click the Home button should do the same thing Ctrl + N is supposed to do : open your home page in a new window.

So, neither work in your case  ? And apparantly some other keyboard shortcuts don't work either.

This sounds a little like this bug report (other OS etc.) :

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1389221

May I ask : do you use a German keyboard, an en-US keyboard, or other  ?

Also : did this start with the update to Firefox 67.0, or one of the later (minor) updates ?

If you open a new window, does it work in this new window in case something is wrong with the main window you currently use?

Do you by any chance use Emacs ?

The more I think about it, the more it sounds like the bug in this bug report, which I mentioned eralier :

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1389221

That was a bug on MacOS, but I just noticed the last comment, which was posted two months ago :

"This is also a bug under Linux (not just MacOS). Please if you could fix it, too. "

You could post a similar comment, but as this bug report hasn't been worked on and has been marked "RESOLVED FIXED", I doubt if anybody will pick it up again.

Maybe you'd like to file a new bug report:

It is a en-US keyboard. I do not use emacs, I have win-10 system. Well, how to open a new windows when ctrl-n does not work. the only way is to go file-new window.. bring back the shortcuts..

I know that you're on Windows (see your system details to the right of your original post).

The only thing I can think of right now, is to file a bug report, as I suggested before.

Like I mentioned before, holding the Shift key and then click the Home button, does the same thing as Ctrl + N : it opens your home page in a new window.

Holding the Shift key and then click the plus sign to the right of the current tab or window : opens a new window.

Holding the Shift key and then click on a link : opens that link in a new window.

That doesn't work for you ?

The keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+N and Ctrl+P not working : that's what that bug report is about ....

Shift key and home button does nothing..

Just a thought, but maybe some of your status keys have the wrong state ....

Would you try this please : Press all the status keys (Shift, Ctrl, Alt) a few times and then try again to hold the Shift key and click the Home button (or the plus sign on the current tab/window, or click a link) Also try Ctrl+N again - does it work now  ?

If not : then close and restart Firefox (or reboot your device).

Is only the shortcut key not working and you do not have a problem with opening a new window otherwise (File menu, New Window toolbar button)?

What keyboard shortcut is shown in the file menu for New Window?
