Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

I know there would be a problem if you right-click a link and use Save Link As, but if you let the site push the PDF to you, it should work.

FredMcD's suggestion should help rule out an overly aggressive pop-up blocking extension as a factor. You also could globally allow pop-ups in case that is needed in this case.

Thanks for the suggestions, but no luck so far...

Steps I've done:

• Restarted in safe mode.
• Added a pop-up exception for the site.
• Globally disabled pop-ups.

Image attached of the download file it generates. If I click on this to open, Windows gives me a "which app" dialog, and if I choose IE, it opens the PDF in IE.

This has been mostly solved by disabling the pop-up blocker for individual sites, but still happens.

Could you set Windows to show file all extensions and see whether that file has any extension on it. If so, what is it?

If it has a .htm or .html extension, could you try opening it in Firefox and see what happens?

No extension. In Properties, it's a "saveitkeep" file type.

If I select Firefox to open the file with, it's just a local file and a blank page: file:///C:/Users/Matt/Downloads/DHOnlineStatementsDisplayServlet

This used to happen a lot more, and allowing pop-ups usually solved it. At this point, I think I'll just redirect to Chrome when it's troublesome.

I assume it's HTML code behind the blank page. I don't know why you get that. You could submit the problem to the site and see whether they have an explanation. Perhaps they aren't aware of the issue.
