Firefox 59 Drop Down Menus Not Working Properly...

I decided to give Firefox 59 another try (59.0.3). Even in the most recent update, drop down menus on many sites do not function properly. I can open them, but they do not stay open. I cleared the history and cache, but the problem persists. I am beyond annoyed at this, because everything works PERFECTLY in Firefox 56. I get tired of being told my browser is out of date, but if they can't fix something simple like drop down menu operation, then I will keep using an outdated browser.

I want to know WHY this is happening. Nothing changed except the browser 'upgrade'. I am on Mac OS 10.13.4, with a Magic Mouse. It does seem that it will work properly with a USB mouse, but I should not have to go back to ancient cowboy technology to have my web browser work correctly. I like my wireless mouse and it alone should not be causing this problem. If anyone has any ideas as to WHY this is happening, your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

The problem persists in safe mode.

Location of the cache/cache2 folder; Windows: *C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\ Mac: ~/Library/Caches/Firefox/Profiles/ Linux: ~/.cache/mozilla/firefox/

Close Firefox. Open your file browser to the above, and remove the folder.

That folder was completely empty. I removed it, but the problem still persists.

If it work correctly with another mouse then you need to check the setting of that Magic Mouse. If the drop-down menu closes then there might be a problem with the configuration of its buttons.

The mouse works perfectly with Firefox 56 - no issues at all. When I open the newest Firefox, then the problems crop up.

Since no one can seem to pinpoint what is causing the problem, I will add this: no drop down menu issues at all using Chrome on the same machine with the same mouse. They made a change somewhere after Firefox 56 that is causing the issue.

I am also having this problem, only in Firefox, latest version. I started a separate thread, but did not get any useful answers. This problem is only with the Apple Magic Mouse. I tried Safe Mode, problem persists. I installed Flash, same thing.

Can someone please address this?

Richard

The problem is persisting in Firefox - it does NOT happen in Chrome. I do not believe it is related to the Magic Mouse. I think they changed something in the Firefox code and it is affecting most of the websites that I use. When I do listings on eBay now, I use Chrome - Firefox is incredibly annoying due to this issue.

Thanks for chiming in! I reverted 'way back to v50 of Firefox, and the Magic Mouse drop downs work perfectly. I can't import my bookmarks though! i am trying other versions.

It is a pity to pay $80 or so for a fancy Apple Magic Mouse 2 and have this annoying problem that a $2 mouse does not have.

I wish Mozilla would address this!
