I would like to send a email to a new friend and I can not see how to get the screen up with proper information so I can type and send a new message.
I do not have a problem reading, replying or forwarding emails, I have a problem trying to send an email to a new person, I can not see anywhere for this to happen. Dorothy

Do you have a Menu Bar with File-Edit-View etc? If not press the alt key. The alt key has revealed hidden menu bars since the beginning of Windows so it is a good shortcut to remember. From the Menu Bar select View-Toolbars and turn the missing toolbars back on.

On the main screen there is a Mail Toolbar. This has Get Messages and then Write. Are you missing this toolbar?
