This is a Known Issue in TB 52. See Bug 1353625 for a discussion and possible workaround. If you wish to revert to TB 45 for the meantime, it is available here.

Thank you for help. Yesterday I changed paper size to "A4" and it worked correctly both with printer preview, LaserJet and pdf-Printer. After closing TB 52 and reopening 3 hours later printing still worked correctly. Today after opening TB printer format was set to "Letter" again with the result of 56 pages instead of one. After setting to "A4" printing was ok again. I hope next update fixes this bug.

After upgrade to 52.1.1, any attempt to print, or print preview, crashed Thunderbird.

I found the above advice.

Setting paper size to A4 fixes the printing problem.

However, when I then tried printing from a different local folder, the paper size had been reset, and printing crashed the program. I had to re-start Thunderbird and re-set the paper size.

This is a real pain - I hope it's fixed pretty soon

Dear sfhowes. Thanks your reply. I have set my print preferences to A4 and the print preview function works as it should and so will stay with with Tbird 52.1.0 until the issue is settled. I shall keep your reversion to the German TB 45 as a final step. All's well that ends well. Grateful your help. dorsetforever

The print preview shows lots of small empty white boxes. When printing only empty pages come out.

I have tried all the above solutions but none of these worked for me. The default page defiantly stayed as letter. Interestingly, some emails didn't hang but displayed up to 1000 pages of blanks. Ultimately, in desperation I changed the name of the default printer and the problem cleared.

I also have an issue with "Print Preview" in TBird, but only when trying to preview an EMail. When I Print Preview an EMail being displayed I get 2 VERY brief advisories, but then it all stops with no preview at all. The advisories are as follows:

Title: (Loading content for Print Preview) Progress: Preparing...

Title: Password reset on support.mozilla.org Progress: Preparing

This seemed to start after having to resolve several Wins 10 issues that may have affected the registry, and having to reinstall Firefox, but nothing to do with TBird.

The first advisory seems self evident, but I have no clue what the second is supposed to be telling me!! PLEASE advise!

I hoped this was going to be fixed in ThB 52.3, but I still have the problem. Originally, I could print email without problems even in ThB 52, but suddenly the problem started with 59 pp-preview for a 1 p-email etc. The print preview function worked all right again suddenly even before updating to 52.3, but what is shown there does not get printed: just blank pages. (Paper size A4). I do hope this will be fixed soon, many thanks!

If you do not see your issue listed in https://mzl.la/2xaMQoR please file a bug report

Check up if the format "Letter" is set in the printer settings. Change it to the format "A4". If this does not help, open the print preview and check the print size setting. Sometimes it is set to "Custom" or "Customized". Change this to "100%" or another scaling you need. In my case, the correct print size will be produced. I hope this is the solution to your problem. Excuse my english is not so good.
