I've been trying to link an active gmail account to thunderbird on a Company computer. but still end up with "configuration cant be verified."

I've tried most things i found on the forum. enabled IMAP on the gmail and allowed minor apps to connect I've tried different authentication req. (OAuth2 and so on)

Its the latest version as far as i know (45.6.0)

Thunderbird has no problem with automatically getting and using the correct settings for Gmail accounts (see my screenshot below).

So it will help if you can show via screenshots the message "configuration cant be verified" you are receiving, and the settings you have for the Gmail account. How do I create a screenshot of my problem?
