How do i fix the graphical glitches in the browser window, I am not running macafee?

Last night my browser started to glitch out, like the button images are chopped up and there are artifacts all over the place. I am not running macafee, the browser is set to use hardware acceleration, and I tried everything I could to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.

How hard is it to reproduce the problem? If it's fairly easy, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement? (More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode)

I fixed it. Just had to turn off the acceleration option.

Okay. Since hardware acceleration improves the appearance of fonts and animations, you may want to check whether any driver updates are available for your system. This article suggests safe sites for doing that: Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL.
