This update has re-installed several times. How to I tell Nightly that it is already up to date?

The Nightly build will update each day and can update more then once a day in case of a respin. The current version in Firefox 42.0a1 in sync with the Firefox 39.0 release (possibly later this week, tomorrow).

Why are you using a Nightly build as such a build is meant for experienced testers?

Thanks, that makes sense of why it keeps updating. As to why I am on this version - I don't know. I assume that I must have said 'yes' to helping test at some stage. How do I turn that off? Or at least only get updates once every few days?

Both the Aurora (aka Developers Edition) and Nightly channels gets checkins almost everyday so there is a update each of those days. Occasionally there is a respin as said.

The checkins can mean a update can sometimes have issues until the checkin(s) is fixed, reverted or is finished in a update.

If you miss one or more updates you will get a full update vs a small partial update.

If you are Testing the Nightly channel simply for Win64 builds then try the Beta channel for more stability as there are Win64 builds on Beta channel. The Beta channel gets about six to twelve updates for a version. www.mozilla.org/firefox/beta

While there have been Win64 builds of 39.0b#, 38.0b# and 37.0b# on Beta channel there is no target version for Win64 Release.

If you don't know why you're using Nightly - don't use it!  ;>)

There is no "every-other-day" updates version. How about using the Release version, which receives major version updates every 6 weeks; and as needed "ChemSpill" minor releases to fix specific issues that may crop up off of the 6 week schedule.

Good answer. I'll go back to Chrome. Thanks

Yeah. You play with pre-release versions like Nightly which are intended to used for testing what will be a future version of Firefox, and then you complain about the frequency of updates. Like jumping into the deep end of the pool before you know how to swim, and when the "life guard" is a little terse with you, you get upset.

Wah, wah - I didn't like playing with you so I'm taking my toys and going home! Don't play with the big boys if you can't handle the truth!

Actually, you are the minnows. You personally would have to grow up to even have a chance at being a Big Boy

Yeah, my GF says the same thing about the minnows.

You have your options, continue being a Nightly channel Tester, use the Beta builds for more stability with Win64 builds or use Releases or downgrade to Google Chrome as you decided.

I think we are done here with this thread.

Also Ed, Really?.
