I've looked in all the security and preference settings. it never used to do this. when I click on a hot link in an e-mail or on a web page, a new tab opens, but I'm always forced to click "allow" to let the page load. if I click on it I want it to load, and would prefer not to have the extra step of having to click "allow" every time. where do I change this? can I change this? thanks.

See:

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > General : Accessibility : [ ] "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page"

The setting in "Options/Preferences > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

I haven't seen behavior like what you're describing. I suspect I'm just not understanding what you're seeing.

Could you take a screenshot of the issue? I should be able to tell what's wrong from a screenshot. If you need help to create a screenshot, please see How do I create a screenshot of my problem?

Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the Browse... button below the Post your reply box. This will help us to visualize the problem.

Thank you!

that did it. thanks. it wasn't clear that that wasn't a security step.
