Why can't I move from the original page after download?
I downloaded and redownloaded firefox on my laptop. Laptop runs on Windows 8 (which I hate). I can not move past the original page that Firefox opens on. I've tried to put in a website and I've tried to search. Any idea what's wrong?

Could you describe what happens when you try to:
- Use the home page search bar (search doesn't submit? page not found?)
- Type an address in the address bar (e.g., abc) and press Enter (request doesn't submit? page not found?)
- Use any bookmark to access a site
If Firefox tries to access a page but can't load it, try this article: Firefox can't load websites but other browsers can.
If the various controls seem "dead", could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

It shows that it's thinking and then nothing. It always stays on the original page. Doesn't show any problems, or go to any other pages.
Hmm, was there any difference when testing in Firefox's Safe Mode?
