Same problem as they had with 23.0.1; I had no idea how to do some of the suggestions noted there, ie, go to about; config...going to About from the Help dropdown doesn't give that option - now you know who you're dealing with when giving suggestions. Thanks, I'd hate to have to use Chrome

Note that your System Details List shows a lot of browser.sessionstore.* that didn't had the default value and that you also had a user.js file that automatically initializes some prefs on each Firefox start.

  1. browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo: 0
  2. browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo: 0
  3. browser.sessionstore.restore_on_demand: False
  4. browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash: False
  5. browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once: False

So if it happens again then keep an eye on your prefs.

I thought it worked after re-install, but not when I shut down the laptop; I don't get the config stuff, not my bag....really too bad as I've used this browser darn near it's inception and have never had an issue like this.

Nothing is forever I guess, now to fight my way through learning a new one

Thanks for the help

The about:config is not too difficult once you get used to it and in your case you may only have to check the sessionstore prefs.
So you can open the about:config page via the location bar and paste sessionstore in the search bar at the top of this page.

You can attach a screenshot of this filtered list then we can see if the prefs have their default value and not user set (bold).

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.

Thanks for trying to help, one of these versions will eventually allow me to save all the tabs when I shut down the PC, until them I'm stuck with Chrome.

you can try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.
