I am using Firefox 25.0 as default and running Windows 7. When on the internet whenever I click on an email to open it or click on a news item with video content I get another website, e.g. Vube.com, or Arcadehits (something of that nature) opening up either behind or in front of the window I need to use. This is becoming most invasive. I have scanned the computer with two anti-spyware/malware programs that found some problems but which did not stop the problem. I have deleted all programs and downloads that either I do not recognise or do not want anymore again to no avail. Any solutions anyone?

hello Philgowls, please go to firefox > addons > extensions and remove the OKitSpace 1.0.1 addon - it has a rather bad reputation when you google it and is often associated with malware.

i don't know which tools you've used to scan your system so far but for symptoms indicating that adware is active on the system i'd especially recommend free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.

Thanks for the reply Philipp, on the face of it - it does sound good, but! : -

  1. OKitSpace 1.0.1 addon is in extensions and disabled (I do not know how it got there and I don't know what it is supposed to do!) so I had disabled it - but how do I "Remove" it?
  2. I have used Spybot - which I was assured was good! - but it could not clean all the threats for some reason- even after 7 goes! Then Super-antispyware which found 17 threats and cleared them all.
I am going to try each of your suggestions - thank you. I will report back later!

19th November. I tried malwarebytes and that seems to have worked - thank you very much!
