Your "Shockwave Flash" plugin shows version 11.7. If you installed version 11.8, Firefox might not detect this until you exit and restart the browser. To confirm that 11.8 installed, you can check the following folder for 64-bit Windows:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
The file is: NPSWF32_11_8_800_168.dll
Hi there,
I have been asked to update Java Development Toolkit 7.0.510.13 and Java (TM) Platform SE 7 U51 which I have and have restarted my browser but it is still saying to me to update. I have been trying this for ages and am starting to get a bit frustrated. I would appreciate some help and/or advice.
Thanks...:)
You can find the latest 32 bit Java 8 version on the Oracle website.
See Java Platform > Java SE 8 (JRE 8 Download; 32 bit for Windows)
Thankyou for replying to my question. I have been onto the website and accepted their agreement, but I am now confused. Exactly which Windows product do I install; it gives me the options of Windows 86 or Windows 64. I do not want to install the wrong one so could you please let me know and also will this get rid of this 'update now' that still appears after I restart?
Thanks......:)
Hi MozzieCozzie, even though Java 8 is now available, Oracle is still recommending Java 7 U51 for Windows users. If you don't mind checking your Java updatedness with Oracle instead of the plugin check site, you could stick with the 7 series for now.
If you are getting more aggressive update notices, are they from a Mozilla site or a different site??
Hi jscher 2000, I have checked my programs and apparently the Java version I have is version 7 update 51. The 'update now' notices I am getting are from the Mozilla site. As for the rest of your advice, I am still not sure what to do. I am sorry to sound like a nerd but I am not that computer savvy when it comes to all of this......:(
