Firefox keeps needing to be reinstalled after only a few time of opening

Hi, I have been having a major issue with firefox, I have version 17.0.1.2, and about 3 months ago. What happens is that I will start my computer and open firefox to use internet resources, sometimes it opens but sometimes it wont, have to keep reinstalling it again. sometimes this happens a few times a day, Have taken it to my computer tech, who has checked the settings etc at least 3 times and it works for a day or two and then starts doing it all over again. There does not seem to be any major viruses. Can anyone help me resolve this. Thanks It is hard to take a screen dump of a program not opening. There are no error messages or anything to say that there is a problem either

You need to use the newer version of Firefox, version 22. Get it from getfirefox.com.

I have downloaded the newer version, praying it will fix the problem, My comp tech did download one newer version when he first got my computer to check it and that was the version I had mentioned. Thanks heaps Love Mozilla Firefox & thunderbird.
