Links are visited in google

I've tried everything and the links when searching google are still all viewed as visited links. I changed privacy settings, reinstalled the browser, cleared cache and history, tried deleted pref.js(couldnt find it) and a host of other things that people said to try and nothing works. If I use bing the links are blue as they should be. I wouldnt have to start using bing but may if I cannot find a solution. Any help would be appreciated.

Does it make any difference whether you are logged into your Google account or logged out?

Do you let Google choose the link colors? You can check this dialog:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Content > "Colors" button > "Allow sites to choose their own colors"

makes no difference at all if I'm logged into Google and colors settings are correct

Google often is accused of running "experiments" with its search results page. I think someone posted this same issue on Google's support forum recently.

When you cleared history, did you remove your Google cookies? While viewing a page on the site (after saving your work in Google sites such as Gmail and Google Docs):

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

This will open a dialog where you can remove your Google cookies individually without losing cookies for other sites.

Then try reloading the page bypassing the cache (Ctrl+Shift+r). Does that make any difference?
