Is there a 'keep alive' function to prevent web sites from automatically logging me out?

more options

Is there a function, add-on, etc that will regularly send activity to a web site to prevent it from automatically logging me out due to inactivity? There are several sites that I would like to keep up in my tabs for monitoring purposes, but they have ridiculous time-out periods of 5 to 15 minutes. I get tired of having to log in all over again each time I want to check up.

You probably need an add-on for this. Doing a quick search, this came up. I haven't tested it myself.

ReloadEvery: Reloads web pages every so many seconds or minutes. The function is accessible via the context menu (menu you get when you right click on a web page) or via tab context menu (right click on the tab).

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately it doesn't look like it is enough to override the time out function. I'll browse the add-ins as well and see what I can find.

If there isn't a pre-built add-on that helps, you could consider a userscript solution (userscripts run in the Greasemonkey or Scriptish extensions). There is a community of script writers at userscripts.org who often donate time to write scripts in response to requests.

(Please be aware that some miscreants have posted scripts which steal your session cookies, friend people you don't know, and do other bad things. The site doesn't have enough resources to take things down quickly. Buyer beware.)
