Script quits working - this is when multiple tabs are open and I go to close one. First, I have to click to close the tab multiple times before it closes, then a 'new tab' opens on it's own. The script error reads Script: chrome://browser/content/tabbrowser.xml:1644 I have to then close the window, reopen it, and then all previous tabs open, and yet another 'new tab' opens. None of my tabs are closing with one click, all need two or more before they close. I love Firefox and have used for years, this really must be fixed.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Ok, to be honest, this has me a bit worried. I'm a bit scattered and I'm worried I'll screw something up. I have a question. I have xmarks installed. What would happen if I simply deleted firefox and re-downloaded and installed it?

When uninstalling if you leave the option to delete preferences and data deselected (the default), your profile folder and the personal data like bookmarks, history, passwords etc. are left intact and would be usually picked up by the next installation of Firefox. Even otherwise, you can still take a backup of the whole folder or some of the files in it and restore it after installing Firefox.

If it's just bookmarks, history and tabs, you can sync the latest set to Xmarks before uninstalling Firefox, install Xmarks in the new Firefox and sync back the set.

So do you believe that uninstalling and reinstalling would probably or unlikely solve my issues?

The error related to Trend is of the IE scripting engine, I think. So there could be a deeper problem. Anyway you can safely try reinstalling Firefox.

The solution of cor-el was right ; I think . But in my case ; it just works for a few times then run into trouble again :(

I found a temporary solution ; when Firefox recover after freezed ; stop that script and open a new windows ; (ctrl N) ; and voila ; you can now open or close tab again

You may use it until we find a complete fix for it :(
