Hi, I just got a new computer with Windows 7 and downloaded Firefox 9. I was able to transfer my profile from my old computer so everything is working well. My only complain is that my Status Bar is no longer there. Before when I was reading my mail, I could see how many mails I had opened in the Status Bar. Even though I had updated to Firefox 9 in the old computer, I still had the Status Bar. Now I have to minimize my Firefox window in order to see and close the open mail. I was reading the article about STATUS 4 EVAR add on. Would this fix my problem? I just want to see how many mails I have opened without minimizing the main Firefox window. I don't want to necessarily show anything else. Your help would be appreciated.

Did you install or move the extensions over from that setup as well?

You will have to install the extension that displayed that notification on the status bar.

Does it help if you enable the Add-ons bar (View > Toolbars > Add-ons Bar; Crrl /)?

Hi Co-el,

I just followed the instructions on your website about"Backing up your information,"Backing up Your profile" and "Restoring to A different location" I don't think the Extensions were moved. How do I do that? I don't know what extension that was. I had that bar ever since I have used Firefox for the last 7 years or so all through all of the updates. The problem now is that I have disconnected my old computer from the internet. I only have a cable modem for one computer. I am still going to do Windows 7 Easy Transfer with the cables but I still have to download a few programs before I do that. Do you think that the extensions will be transfered? Enabling the Add-ons bar adds a bar at the bottom but is is empty. I have not installed the Status-4-Evar because I was waiting for your response

Hi Cor-el I just looked at a screenshot printout copy I have of the extensions I had. I only had 9 and none of them had to do with the Status Bar. By the way they were not transferred when I moved my profile. Everything else seemed to have transferred except my passwords for websites. My main concern was my mail and bookmarks and that is working great. Do you still think that I should download the Status-4-Evar?

Thanks,

Amy

Which files and folders did get moved from the old computer regarding the Firefox profile folder in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\?

Which extensions do you have?

Is there one that deals with mail notifications and that may have displayed them on the status bar?
If there is such an extension then you can check the settings to if you can customize it to use the Add-ons bar.

Installing Status-4-Evar won't help if you do not have an extension to show the mail status.

Hi Co-rel

The only extension I see is the Autofill. I don't think any of my old extensions were moved. Which is OK. I only had a few. I did not have any mail notification Extension. What I am realizing is that the bar I thought was part of Firefox was really part of Windows XP. The bar would show the START icon and every time I opened an e-mail a little Firefox icon saying mail or something like that would show in that bar. By clicking on them I would be able to see and close that particular mail window. I just got my new computer with Windows 7 five days ago of days ago. I am just learning Windows 7. I just realized yesterday that as I open mail, there are several little windows stacked up behind one another in the Firefox icon at the bottom bar of Windows 7 which looks totally different from Windows XP. By clicking them I see my opened mail and I can them see them gain or close them. Also if I click on the folder icon on the Windows 7 bar, I can see the other windows that are opened. I am really sorry for the confusion. I always learn a lot from this forum and all of you guys helping us. You can close this topic as Solved. Thanks again Co-rel for all of your help and time spent with me.
