Various sites have a check here box to keep me logged on for 30 days. This never works on FF (ok, I have not tried IE yet), but I know it used to.

The latest one is Google's phone verification when I tell it not to verify on a given IP address for at least 30 days. Each FF restart causes me to re-verify. This occurs with other web sites in which I have subscriptions - check box for 30 days (or some time period), each FF restart forces me to re-login.

That type of website preference is usually stored in a cookie.

Are you clearing your cookies when you close Firefox?
Or do you have a security or "cleanup" program installed that is clearing cookies in Firefox?

more options

No. As far as I am aware all history, cookies, etc. are left intact between sessions. It's possible that my symantec security software is doing this and I sometimes get messages about tracking cookies being handled, but no other type of cookie.

Does this help?

Check your Symantec prefs and disable anything related to cookies, Then see if that problem is gone.

Ok. I changed the tracking cookie cleanup monster to "ask me" so I can examine each it tries to eat.
