A box popped up saying I should delete a version of firefox. I don't know which v, or how to do it?

I was in the middle of writing & I received notice that a certain v of Firefox was giving people trouble & that I should remove it from my computer. My computer won't restart unless I reboot which is a problem, as this computer is old. I wanted to shrink the box, but closed it by mistake. Now, when I log onto the libraries unsecured web connection, I'm told someone may be tampering with my site. Will that box come up again, or what should I do?

Would Firefox send a message to someone who didn't have the v I mentioned? Is there even a v that starts with a 4? The pop up I received stated the problem was with v 4 ... If no such v exists, I know it was a scam, & am glad I didn't fall prey to it. As to blocking pop ups, I will ask a question of whomever the pop up refers to before I take any action. Someone once used an official looking e-mail to try to access my Apple account. My rep. told me not to respond, as it was a scam. Thank you for responding, I'm glad I accidentally X'd the pop up out. I never thought someone could access my computer by telling me to remove a v of a program.
