Prompted to upgrade from 3.6.12 to .13 I'm Told I Don't Have Privileges

I was running FF 3.6.12 and received a prompt to upgrade to 3.6.13

When I clicked on the upgrade I was told we were connecting to download server and the blue bar went on for hours -- I'm just in the door from a day away and the download claimed to still be going.

I stopped that and downloaded the 3.6.13 dmg But when I try to drag the Firefox icon into the Applications I'm told it can't because I "do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items"

I'm now running 3.6.13 but from the dmg (or however you say that -- I have a disk icon on my desktop) not from Applications.

I'm running OS X 10.5.8 on a PowerBook G4

Any ideas?

Thanks
