On the menu > new > existing email account and follow the prompts. But they are simply added to Thunderbird. The base Gmail account is still necessary to syncronise mail to.

Sorry Matt, I could not find menu as such. I found setting, I also clicked on the bars at the upper right corner. I could not find the path you are referring to. Terry

Thanks again Matt for your reply; I did find the path and followed the instructions for existing e-mail account, however, it said incoming mail account already exists. It did not copy the addresses from Gmail to Thunderbird. Terry

Have you already created a gmail mail account for your email address?

I am talking about contacts (e-mail addresses). I have G-mail installed. I just want my contacts to show up in Thunderbird. I now have to switch to G-mail from Thunderbird to send an e-mail.

In 'Address Book' window. File > New > CardDav address book Enter gmail email address and for the location: https://www.googleapis.com/carddav/v1/principals/yourname@gmail.com/lists/default/

Edit the above part where I said 'yourname@gmail.com' so it has your email address. and click on Continue

You will probably get prompted by gmail to enter password to allow Thunderbird access. It should create a new 'Address Book' in the list of address books.
