Firefox doesn't have a "Repair Text Encoding" button but it used to have a Text Encoding menu item. See Text Encoding no longer available in the Firefox menu panel

The replay that you sent did not help. I am using Win7 and Firefox 91. When I click on View the repair Text encoding is grey out. I went to the customize toolbar and it brought up the repair button called repair text encoding. I then dragged it to the menu. I then press the done button and it shows on the menu but it is grey out. I really need it for my email. I use juno for the email program. Ron

Sorry, I didn't realize that the Firefox Menu bar View menu item and the optional Customize button was renamed in Firefox 91, from Text Encoding to Repair Text Encoding. I updated the Text Encoding no longer available in the Firefox menu panel article.

As for the Text Encoding menu item being greyed out, that's normal for the vast majority of sites. See this bug report comment and this mozillaZine thread for more information.

P.S. I did some digging and Bug 1687635 changed how to correct text encoding in Firefox 91 using the "Repair Text Encoding" feature. In Firefox 91, there is no longer a Text Encoding sub-menu with a list of character encoding choices. Instead, "Repair Text Encoding" corrects the text encoding automatically.

I tested this in Firefox 91 using the https://cheesebuerger.de/ "test" link using the Menu bar -> View -> "Repair Text Encoding" menu item. Once "Repair Text Encoding" is selected, the View menu item is greyed-out. Same with the optional Customize button. Opening the link in a new tab made it possible to use "Repair Text Encoding" again.

Hope that helps.
