Recent Firefox Developer Edition sometimes doesn't start add-ons.
I'm using Firefox Developer Edition on two computers. They have similar add-ons installed, at least "TreeStyle Tab", "Copy Title And URL".
Recently (2-3 weeks) one copy began to start with the add-ons not working. They listed as enabled, but to really make them work I should reenable (disable-enable) them. Another copy on a system with more advanced and modern computer never showed such issues.
Common part from both Troubleshooting pages (compared with WinMerge)

Other parts of the Troubleshooting page doesn't show anything closely related to add-ons but I can post some of the information is necessary.

So is there a reason the standard FF isn't working?

I assumed FF and FF DE use the same codebase so the standard edition may be affected also.
Hi, since you are running a Developer which is in constant state of being updated. Anything can happen and will.
Please try Windows 7 tool. Please open a MS Dos Prompt with Right Click Administrator Privileges by Seach for CMD.EXE
Then please Copy/Paste sfc/ scannow and reboot after (sfc/<space>scannow)
Please just supply only the list of Extensions/Add-ons for now from the list that will be shown from the System that is having the issue : Type about:support in the address bar and press Enter. Under the main banner, press the button; Copy Text To Clipboard.. Now in the Reply Box on the forum page, do a right-click in the box and select Paste.
This will show us your system details. No Personal Information Is Collected.

Are you sure this is regularly done here? The field at the forum prevents me from pasting more than 10000 symbols. I'm pasting an edited version (without Graphics and Media section if you don't mind)

Hi, again
The daily statistics also shows that I still experience this about 75% of all starts (current the about fox shows Firefox Developer Edition 63.0b3)
I noticed also that this problem (Add-ons not enabled after start while listed as enabled in the add-on config) usually happens after the ff is updated. Today the first start was with the update ("please wait.." window) and after that the add-ons was disabled. I restarted ff several times, all was with successfully enabled add-ons.
You can check the Browser Console to see if there are error message about these extensions.

Thanks for the hint. I managed to compare "normal" and "failed" launches output. Seems like the browser log of the failed one starts with the following error
1536496278241 addons.xpi ERROR startup failed: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIFile.initWithPath]" nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: resource://gre/modules/addons/XPIProvider.jsm :: readAddons :: line 1155" data: no] Stack trace: readAddons()@resource://gre/modules/addons/XPIProvider.jsm:1155 scanForChanges()@resource://gre/modules/addons/XPIProvider.jsm:1250 checkForChanges()@resource://gre/modules/addons/XPIProvider.jsm:2484 startup()@resource://gre/modules/addons/XPIProvider.jsm:2116 callProvider()@resource://gre/modules/AddonManager.jsm:206 _startProvider()@resource://gre/modules/AddonManager.jsm:654 startup()@resource://gre/modules/AddonManager.jsm:807 startup()@resource://gre/modules/AddonManager.jsm:2802 observe()@jar:file:///C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Firefox%20Developer%20Edition/omni.ja!/components/addonManager.js:66 Log.jsm:684
The "normal" one doesn't contain exactly the same error with full details, but contains a shorter one about probably some other feature
NS_ERROR_FAILURE: Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIFile.initWithPath]
When I googled [ "XPIProvider" "readAddons" "NS_ERROR_FAILURE" ], the only bug (now inactive) reported was
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1074926
having something to do with profiles located on a network (NFS). My computer probably had several versions of Firefox during the lifetime (32bit, 64 bit), conventional, ESR and Developer Edition now.
As for my Update-related observation... I have several profiles used for different tasks. Looks like after any fresh update, every profile more or less goes through first start with the "failed" add-ons start and the consecutive "normal" ones. So, it's not like I need any after-update "failed" start in order for everything to work correctly, every profile should visit this failure to work correctly.
