TB Blinks and then close button does not work.

When I open TB, everything goes good till all icons are open and then it blinks quickly 8 to 10 times. After it stops blinking, I get this message, "The account dcvegh@cogeco.ca is being processed. Please wait until processing is complete to get messages." However, I do receive and can send emails. Finally, when I try to close TB, it will not close. the minimize and maximize buttons do not work either. To close TB, I use task master or use the exit button in the TB drop down menu. I have been on the TB forum and did not find a fix. I can open email in my windows mail but it is not laid out as well as TB. If I cannot resolve this issue, I may have to resort to Windows mail. It also opens my gmail for me. This problem just started about two weeks ago. Everything was working perfectly before then.

What anti virus are you using? Could it be scanning at the same time and Thunderbird is trying to access the files.

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try one of the following:

  • Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.
  • Restart the operating system in safe mode with Networking. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OSX
If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.
