During the last month or so Firefox has been crashing multiple times daily. For a while the average crashes per day was around 3, but lately this number has risen to about 5 crashes every day.

I check out a lot of different web sites most days, visiting lots of commercial sites like Amazon, eBay, and various other online vendors. I also visit Wikipedia, Dictionary.com, and many other sites related to researching various topics. It is very rare for Firefox to crash while I am at these sites. However, each day at some point I eventually get around to reading articles and watching videos discussing political topics. This last category of online activity is where the problem of Firefox's frequent crashes arises from, this is clearly the case because the crashes occur almost exclusively when I am reading or watching content of a political nature.

When there is a crash a dialog box is displayed by Firefox containing technical info about the crash and a text-entry box for comments, as well as an opportunity to give your email address so Mozilla can contact you about the issue if needed.

Every time there has been a crash (3 or more times daily for over a month now) I have added a comment to the error report requesting Mozilla please contact me via my email to let me know something regarding what they have learned from the error reports about what is causing these frequent crashes. Mozilla has not replied to me yet. This is the reason I am now posting here with the hope of finally learning the cause for these frequent crashes.

Aside from these crashes I find Firefox to be an excellent browser. At least when Firefox crashes it allows you to reconnect to the page you were viewing pretty quick. Way better than Google Chrome, which crashed all the time when I would watch any YouTube video, regardless of whether the video was political or something else. Moreover, Chrome crashes usually locked up the system so that a reboot was required - Firefox is much more robust.

Nevertheless, the frequency of Firefox crashes are now becoming so great that I will, regrettably, begin looking at other browser options if I am unable to get help fixing this problem.

Any cogent help you can offer about this issue I would greatly appreciate. Thanks for your time in reading this complaint.

thanks, can you try looking for an update to your graphics driver with amd's tool https://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool or else disable hardware acceleration in the firefox menu ≡ > options > advanced > general (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).

Skipped attempting to upgrade the graphics driver (I've had problems with updating drivers that were supposed to fix problems actually introducing new problems in the past) and tried disabling Firefox's hardware acceleration setting.

Bingo. I've visited many videos and and web pages, both political and non-political, and not a single crash all day yesterday, nor any today.

Have to say I'm amazed. Never thought a fix could be effected in this situation so easily. Clearly you know what you are doing, Philipp. My sincere thanks for your help.

I'll be making a donation to Mozilla. Thank you again for your time and resolving this issue. Cheers!
