Thunderbird will not launch. Upgrade / Migrate screen appears
I upgraded Firefox / Thunderbird. Since then, opening Thunderbird yields the Thunderbird 38 main upgrade advice-information screen. Clicking on the Upgrade/Migrate label has no effect. I cannot get into the Thunderbird program itself. No other versions are running. This is on my wife's laptop.

Sorry, but that leaves out the (to me important), windows chrome with things like minimize buttons and tabs.
That page on your image is here. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/new-thunderbird-38 bt I do not see if your seeing it in Firefox or Thunderbird or what.
The page should appear in a tab, but without the rest of the screen I can not be sure.

Please provide us with a screenshot. If you need help to create a screenshot, please see How do I create a screenshot of my problem?
Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the Browse... button below the Post your reply box. This will help us to visualize the problem.
In the meantime, I am guessing what your describing might be http://kb.mozillazine.org/Recovering_a_profile_that_suddenly_disappeared
This is to clarify my post. Thunderbird will not launch. The attached screen is displayed. NOTHING I do will rid me of this screen. If I activate the upgrade/migrate label, this same screen appears. Please see attached:
(I only was able to snag the upper 2/3 of the screen.)

I just started to look around a finally got in. Unfortunately, I have no idea of what was wrong. This is my wife's laptop and I have no idea of what she was doing just before the problem surfaced. Thanks.
