Since upgrading to 38.0.1, I've noticed that randomly FireFox will ignore /etc/hosts (on mac) and use public DNS for a URL. Hard refreshing seems to correct the issue, however normal refresh does not.

To rule out computer issues, I switched over to Chrome and it doesn't have the same behavior.

Hi optize, In your network settings of Firefox, do you have it configured to point to the host file or automatically detect?

Hello,

I don't see that option, however we're running default Firefox builds with no customization so I assume it's set to automatically detect.

I found a way to replicate it.

- Create a hosts file of a sub domain. In this example, call it game.domain.com and point it at a web server.

- Go to game.domain.com in a tab, it should work.

- Go to domain.com in another tab, it should work.

- Refresh game.domain.com, it will no longer work. Hard refresh game.domain.com tab, it will work again.

Once you create another tab with the same domain name as your hosts file, it bypasses the host file for the other entry for whatever reason.
