Frequent Firefox crashes, even after re-installation

I'm running the current version of firefox on windows 8, and the issues cropping up really have me stumped.

I've had occasional crashes in the past, but lately Firefox seems to be crashing much more frequently. I've installed new security software and run scans for malware, but they didn't detect much of anything. I've deleted firefox entirely and done a complete reinstallation of the latest version from scratch, but the crashes started again as soon as firefox was re-installed, before I could install any add-ons. I've had about 20 crashes in the last 24 hours.

If y'all have any further suggestions, i'd love to hear them; my patience is wearing thin.

hello, could you provide your latest few submitted crash reports? please enter about:crashes into the location bar, copy the latest few report ids from there starting with bp- & paste them here into a forum reply. this will give us a better understanding what may be triggering those crashes.

Certainly! It took me a few more crashes to get them, but here are several of the latest:

Thanks so much for looking into this.

great, thanks. all of those look like a crash triggered by your nvidia graphics driver in relation to hardware acceleration in firefox - please try updating the graphics driver for your model on the nvidia website, or in case this doesn't solve the issue or there is no new version available at the moment, disable hardware acceleration in the firefox menu ≡ > options > advanced > general (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).

Thanks; just tried that.

Firefox seems to be marginally more stable now, but still prone to crashes. The latest few reports:

unfortunately there's still the nvidia driver involved. you appear to be on a system with dual graphic cards (GPUs). can you try to go into the nvidia control panel and set the intel one as default renderer?: http://support.lenovo.com/en/documents/ht078706
