I have just downloaded firefox 30 on a brand new mac and it won't let me login to twitter no matter what I do. It just bounces to whichever page I was trying to login through.\

It does this if I have safe mode enabled or not. No settings have been changed, this is a brand new install.

Safari and Chrome work fine!

This issue can be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked.

  • check the permissions on the about:permissions page and in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"

Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Thanks - no idea how the firt visit could get a corrupt cookie... but it did. Clearing the cookies worked great

For me, I followed cor-el's solution but with some differences:

  • Permissions were all default so I didn't change anything.
  • I cleared cache, but I don't know if it helped.
  • Instead of changing to "Use custom settings for history" (it is set to "Remember history") I simply clicked the blue "remove individual cookies" link (this brings up the same dialog as Show Cookies).
  • Then I searched for "twitter" in the search box, selected all the cookies that appeared, and clicked "Remove Cookies".

This solved the problem. Btw, "Preferences" is "Options" in Windows.

Preferences was mentioned because the OP was using Firefox on Mac OSX.

I know, but the problem is not limited to Firefox for Mac. I had it in a Windows computer.
