Firefox Aurora keeps crashing for no apparent reason.

more options

Firefox just randomly crashes at different points while browsing, sometimes it is open for a few seconds, other times it will stay open for a few minutes, but it never fails to crash. One thing that always makes it crash is visiting my email. I can go into my email on yahoo.com but once I get in I see my emails for about 2-4 seconds and then Firefox crashes again, never fails. It was a very large hassle just confirming my email address to put up this ticket x.x I could really use some help on solving this problem :c

RESOLVED FIXED Huge Aurora 32 crash spike after landing of bug 1013587, several signatures

Aurora channel builds has been crash prone in last couple days.

If you want to be a serious Tester you can follow the daily threads in http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=23 however they are more more focused on the even more bleeding edge Nightly development channel.

This is the fun part of Testing as sometimes you get to try out new things before it gets to Release however it can also mean some checkin(s) could cause regressions or crashes. The checkins on Aurora (and Nightly) usually happens everyday so there is a update each of those days.

The crashes have been fixed today. Starting with this nightly build: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/2014/06/2014-06-29-08-15-12-mozilla-aurora/

I would advise you to switch back to the release build of Firefox and not the beta or alpha (Aurora) versions of Firefox.

I'm a nightly build tester myself and I have a separate release build installed that I can use if I run into problems with the nightly build. If you don't like the idea of having 2 types of the Firefox browser installed, please just install the release version.

Because having the aurora Firefox as your only browser put you in a very bad situation where you were constantly crashing and frustrating yourself just to sign up on this forum. And I don't recommend the beta or aurora browser to users who just want their browser to work b/c one day they will be finding themselves fighting off mysterious/annoying bugs.

So please take that suggestion under advisement. :)

That link is to a Aurora channel build not a Nightly channel build to be accurate. They just happen to be in a general folder labeled Nightly which can confuse some users.

The Beta channel builds are pretty safe though the first couple of beta builds for a version can sometimes have minor issues initially.

If you do want to run Beta, Aurora, and / or Nightly builds, in addition to the Firefox Release version, it is very important that you have a separate Profile for each "Channel"version that you use.

See this thread for an explanation about how to do that. http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=2821799
