While using Outlook.com email in my Firefox browser, I attach a zip file to send to someone.

They reported that the zip file is empty. This happened two more times.

I confirmed that the zip file that I was uploading from my hard drive did indeed have files included.

I then downloaded the attached zip file from the email in my "Sent" folder. It was empty.

When I tried using "Outlook.com" in the Chrome browser, I did not have the same problem.

I'm using Firefox ESR version 128.9.0, on Windows 10.

(The downloaded empty zip file also had "utf-8" added to the file name - that problem is addressed in other tickets and is being worked on. I am not asking about that.)

I took a screenshot of this page, zipped it, and emailed it from my hotmail account to my comcast account with no issue. see screenshot. You have not shown it to be a Firefox issue unlike the utf-8 issue, that's clearly a browser issue. What is the size of the file before you upload it and what's the size of the file downloaded from the sent folder?

Unless some kind of antivirus or other cleaning software is modifying the ZIP file after you attach it, it's very difficult to understand why it would change between the time you hit Send and when it is received or moved to your Sent folder. Does it matter what kind of files are in the Zip archive?

It's helpful to know that you did not run into the same problem. May I know what version of Firefox you are using with Hotmail/Live.com/Outlook.com? And which version of Windows?

"You have not shown it to be a Firefox issue..."

I wasn't aware that I had to prove my own experience. I'm hoping to gather information from other people that have run into something similar, so we can identify the source of the problem.

The uploaded file is 11 kilobytes. The downloaded file is 1 kb.

I'm running Linux and Nightly 139.0a1 (2025-04-26) (64-bit), but confident I will have the same result in any version. You see the file size is different. If it's not private, what file type are you zipping and sending? This will help in trying to replicate the issue. My file was just a screenshot (.png).

I am zipping two html files. They are pretty simple files, html and css only, no scripting.

Does Firefox or, Jonzn4SUSE, since you also use Hotmail, the web version of Outlook, have any kind of security features that might explain this?
