Today Thunderbird only downloads new messages from my gmail, not my yahoo. It stops at "checking for new messages".

Just now without my doing anything, TB downloaded all yesterday's and today's emails. I will follow keep your suggestion if it happens again. Thanks

Please post your Troubleshooting Information. At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button ≡, then select Help > More Troubleshooting Information. Press the "Copy text to clipboard button" and paste the information into your reply.
